Our family: Madison, Matt, Truman and Elizabeth
Belcher
Fourteen years since the first Boer goats
arrived on our farm. One of
our foundation breeding bucks in the mid-90s.
With determination and persistence Elizabeth was
able to convince the New Mexico State
Fair the Boer breeding goat and consequently the
market shows were going to be a viable
and strong industry and there is a need to plant
and except the start of this industry in the
state. In 1998 the New Mexico State fair agreed
to allow the International Boer Goat
Association to host the first breeding show
coordinated by Elizabeth and the IBGA. (photo)

In May '97, Elizabeth hosted a seminar and show
to aide
and encourage acceptance for market wethers in
local
county shows. Many breeders from West Texas and
New
Mexico attended. Coni Ross and President Bill
Banker -
from American Meat Goat Association graciously
accepted
the invitation to lecture.
